Fresh Tips
Simple tricks to make your fresh food last longer, taste better, and reduce waste at home.
Separate bananas from the bunch to slow ripening. Wrap the stems in cling wrap to keep them fresh even longer.
Cold kills their flavour and texture. Store tomatoes at room temperature, stem-side down, for the best taste.
Place your avocado in a brown paper bag with a banana. The ethylene gas will speed up ripening in 1-2 days.
Storing onions and potatoes together causes both to spoil faster. Keep them in separate, cool dark spots.
Soak wilted lettuce or herbs in ice water for 15-30 minutes. They'll crisp right back up, good as new.
Cucumbers and watermelon are 95% water. Eating hydrating produce is a delicious way to stay refreshed.
